In the following stanza, which word would you pick to end the third line? Enlightenment or empowerment?

every since I was a child
He's whispered in my ear
a message of enlightenment/empowerment
that to this day I hear

I like "Empowerment".
Enlightenment makes me think of passive acceptance , whereas Empowerment makes me feel an active acceptance.
You can put a thousand different spins on it, but I know I actively seek "His" ways.
