Growing up in a religious household, and you know, wider society, shame has been a powerful oppressor. No sex before marriage. Sex is for procreation not pleasure. General nudity is wrong. Impure thoughts are wrong. Etc. It’s a deluge.
Porn is basically the peek behind the curtain. It’s humans admitting they must human, and everything is just fallacy. I remember seeing a page in a porn magazine as an early teen and being confused. ‘The penis is inside her, but it’s not inside her vagina. This makes no sense.’ Such was the confusion when being presented with an image of anal sex, that my brain couldn’t even comprehend it. People enjoy anal. Anal it exists. It isn’t for everyone. Porn tells me that. Society tells me it’s taboo. Less than it told me before, but it still murmurs.
Porn doesn’t think me a pervert for the things I like. Porn doesn’t tell me I’m going to hell. The same hypocrisy and injustice that exists in society exists in porn. But there’s no need to hide it in porn.
Shame stops people talking. It stops healing. It stops acceptance. I despise it. Motherless is where people can be themselves. Even if who they are isn’t who they want to be.
Fuck shame, and all it entails.
